Provided award-winning interior design Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto’s only cemetery. It’s a privately owned, 72-acre site established in 1904. The park replaced the original single-story Spanish Colonial Revival building with a new two-story facility echoing historical architecture and Mediterranean gardens. The new building includes a chapel that can seat 150 people.

Chief challenges of the project were to honor the crossroads of cultures, religions and values the park represents; celebrate the architectural style of the Spanish Colonial Revival exterior yet feel contemporary; and deliver authenticity within budget. Marlene Ciatti, Allied ASID, (American Society of Interior Designers) is located in the heart of the Wine Country in Sonoma, California.

After college, Marlene began her career in the fashion industry, where she developed her knowledge of texture, proportion and scale before returning to school to study art, achitecture and design. Ciatti Design began in 1999.

Over the past decade, Marlene has refined her interior design skills working on a variety of residential and commercial projects. Marlene has sensitivity to her client's individual needs and unique design goals. Cathleen Gouveia is the Design Principal of Cathleen Gouveia Design, a Belvedere based design firm focused on delivering high-end residential interior design to homes in the San Francisco Bay Area, Lake Tahoe, and beyond. Her work has been featured on Home and Garden Television (“HGTV”), “California Home and Living Television”, The San Francisco Chronicle, The Marin Independent Journal, and several other periodicals.

Cathleen's career began in the New York advertising industry where she worked for several noteworthy advertising agencies including Grey, Backer Spielvogel Bates, Ally & Gargano, and Saatchi & Saatchi. After managing multi-media campaigns for several Blue Chip advertising clients, she added to her accomplishments a Master’s Degree in Interior Architecture and Design at the world-renowned Rhode Island School of Design (RISD). In 1998, she relocated to the San Francisco Bay Area. She spent several years working as a Designer at prestigious design firms including Brayton and Hughes and Barbara Scavullo Design. Cathleen Gouveia Design was founded in Sausalito, CA in April, 2004. Cathleen Gouveia is an Allied Member of the ASID, and a Member of IIDA. She is presently working on the launch of a signature collection of home furnishings and accessories under a new line entitled, “La Maison Marin”.

The hallmark of Cathleen’s style is a conceptual perspective that is unique to the history and vernacular of a building; and the rich personal history of each design client. Having studied in Europe, Cathleen has established a cornucopia of unique design sources, artisans and suppliers. She invites her clients to collaborate during the design process, while offering the highest level of customer service and project management.

In her free time, Cathleen may be found indulging her passion for travel, art, design, music and boating; as well as a love of the great outdoors. She divides her time between San Francisco, CA; Bay Head NJ; and East Hampton, NY.
