Provided award-winning interior design Alta Mesa Memorial Park, Palo Alto’s only cemetery. It’s a privately owned, 72-acre site established in 1904. The park replaced the original single-story Spanish Colonial Revival building with a new two-story facility echoing historical architecture and Mediterranean gardens. The new building includes a chapel that can seat 150 people.
Chief challenges of the project were to honor the crossroads of cultures, religions and values the park represents; celebrate the architectural style of the Spanish Colonial Revival exterior yet feel contemporary; and deliver authenticity within budget.
